You may wish to use aromatherapy during labour and childbirth. It is worth mentioning however that giving birth is very unpredictable and may not go as you wished. Essential oils can be extremely beneficial during this time. It is best to discuss with your aromatherapist, mid-wife, and birth partner before-hand as to what you would like to use. It is nice to use the oils to scent the room and within a blend so that your birth partner may massage you during labour. It is best to be familiar with these oils, even if you are just planning to use them in a soothing bath when you are still at home. Massage can be useful during labour, techniques can be applied by your partner and they are encouraged to attend one of your sessions so that they can learn from a demonstration.
